Free Community Dinners - 4th Thursday of each month

Our congregation is offering free Community Dinners on the 4th Thursday of each month from 5:30 to 7:00 pm to everyone in our community who wants to come to eat. We believe that offering the hands of hospitality along with the warmth of hot food is good for the heart!

Everyone is welcome!

We are participating with the other Protestant Churches in 'old Westminster' in this ministry. Advent Lutheran offers a Community Dinner on the first Thursday of the month; St. Martha's Episcopal Church offers a Community Dinner on the second Thursday of the month; Westminster Presbyterian offers a Community Dinner on the third Thursday of the month; and we at Westminster United Methodist Church are offering a Community Dinner on the fourth Thursday of the month.

The food is provided by our congregation. No governmental entity has provided food for these dinners! It is served by members of our congregation as well as others in the community. If you or someone you know would like to help out with the dinners with food or with serving, please give the church a call 303-429-1569, and leave a message for our Coordinator, Lynn Waring!

We believe, as Jesus said "I was hungry and you fed me, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink, I was homeless and you gave me a room, I was shivering and you gave me clothes, I was sick and you stopped to visit, I was in prison and you came to me'...'Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me - you did it to me.'" Matthew 25:35, 36, 40 (The Message Remix).

We feed about 100 people or more at our Community Dinner. The usual day for our Community Dinners is the 4th Thursday of each month. However, in November we will not have a Community Dinner. In December our Community Dinner will be on Tuesday, February 23, 2012 at 5:30 pm.

Are you looking for something useful to do for Christ?

About Our Church

We hope you find in us a place of sanctuary, beauty and peace. Here God's Word is taught and demonstrated in positive ways; here creative thinking, meditation, laughter and loving acts are encouraged; here the lives of children, youth and adults are nurtured and focused so that, as faith and life come together, each will serve God and humanity through their prayers, their presence, gifts and their service.

Statement of Beliefs

We are a progressive and moderate, diverse and inclusive United Methodist congregation. We believe the church belongs to God and that the church is, in the words of the Apostle Paul, the body of Christ. The church is to be the physical presence of Christ in the world. As such, our primary aim is to do God’s will. We believe we are called by God to be in mission to our community and the world.

Church History

Westminster United Methodist Church (WUMC) has been in our location in Westminster, Colorado since 1954, having started as a Bible Study in the Westminster Grange in 1953. Our large building presently houses three congregations with three languages: our English-speaking United Methodist congregation, our Spanish-speaking United Methodist congregation, and the Hmong-language Hmong Mennonite Church. We work together in ministry to promote the Kingdom of God in our community and in our nation!
